How to keep your spark in a time of uncertainty

It’s no news to us all that with the rise of Covid-19, we are in unchartered waters and uncertainty is the breath we are breathing most days. It’s scary and stressful and we’re all doing our best to navigate our way down a path that hasn’t been walked before.

One thing we can do in this time, is keep our spark alive and focus on the good things that we do have. Here is how I’ve been spending my time and how i’ve kept positive amidst this crazy-ness. My hope is that it may inspire you to look at what you still DO have and the splashes of light in your day.

READ A BOOK YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO READ

I’ve started reading “Into The Night” by Sarah Bailey, it’s a Crime novel and it is a d d i c t i v e. Usually I go for light reads or “self-improvement” but I feel like we really need activities where we can escape reality at the moment so this is my go to. Highly recommend heading to your local book store, or ordering online some books to keep your mind active and your heart healthy.

GET IN YOUR GARDEN

If you can, get into your garden.. whether it’s your little pot plant or herb garden on your balcony or your parents yard, immerse yourself in nature. Watching the way flowers are still blooming, plants are still growing and new life is still sprouting even amongst the crazy. Its nice to create something. And being outside is always good for the soul.

CALL A FRIEND

Whilst we may not be able to see friends, calling a friend is the best soul medicine. You could even grab a glass of wine and have a “night in” together on video.

PUMP THE MUSIC

I’ve created a “Corona Happiness” playlist with some feel good tunes, you can listen here. Or start your own! Get the music going and have a little boogie, guaranteed good feels all around!!

CONNECT WITH A PODCAST

Podcasts are not only a great way to expand our knowledge and thought bank, but a great way to feel connected with others. I’m currently listening to: Offline by Alison Rice and Expanded by Lacy Phillips. Sometimes I will just have a podcast on whilst i’m working to feel like i’m not so isolated… it feels like to hear other voices.

CREATIVE PROJECT

Always wanted to become the next picasso, or were you a wiz on the guitar before life “got busy”? Allocate an hour a day to exploring a new creative project. No need to focus on the outcome, just simply create for the sake of creating and see how it lifts your mood.
