The branding process

If you’ve not worked with a designer before, you may be wondering how the branding process actually works. Every designer has their own way and ideal process of doing things - but this strategy is one I’ve created to suit my intuitive design development and what I feel most beneficial for you as the client to make sure your branding does everything you’ve dreamed of. Let’s jump in!

1. Client Questionnaire and Discovery Call

This is one of the most important steps as it allows me (the designer) to gather information from you and understand your goals for your brand. We outline what we aim to achieve together and ensure we are both on the same page in terms of the scope for your brand development. I will recommend a strategy session here if I believe there is some work to be done to really land your brand positioning (more about that here) but otherwise we will jump right in and get started!

Here I will provide you with a questionnaire where you fill out a bunch of information about your business, and then I chase you up with a quick discovery call to make sure we’re on the same page :)

2. Research and Inspiration

From here - once we’ve decided on a package and I’ve received your questionnaire back I will get to work on developing a mood board and some inspiration. I will put together a direction to add another piece to the puzzle.

This will be send through as a PDF which will create a clear look and feel, and you send through your approval to go ahead with the first round of concepts.

3. Concept Designs

This is where the design process starts! I commence designing based on all of our above work together and present you with 3 x initial branding concepts - each will include colour ways, typefaces and a mockup design so that you can see each logo concept working.

4. Feedback from Client

Once you receive your Concept Document, you provide me with feedback - this can be either in the form of a phone call or email, however you like to work. The more information you can provide the better - what you are liking in terms of font, colour way, logo layout and format. You can also mix and match pieces from each concept to create your “ideal” logo for the next step.

5. Refining Design (repeat of step 3 and 4)

In each of my design packages there are 3 revisions included, this means that we go between the above steps 3 and 4, until we settle on your favourite logo.

6. Supporting Visual Elements & Graphics

Once the final logo is set in stone, I get to work on the other visual elements and graphics that are included in your package. If this is my most popular “ignite your brand” package, I will work on the style guide and aligning business cards, email footers, social media icons and letterheads.

7. Final approval and Presentation of Branding

Once all of the above is approved (all visual elements and graphics) and there are no further changes, I request the final invoice to be paid, and send across your beautiful ready to go design files! This is the most exciting part as you can now launch your new branding to bloom into the world!! YAY!

After we’ve journeyed through the design process together and wrapped up our project, I am here to help any other way I can and want to support you in your new business endeavour.
